A daring thought: Your head may already hold an idea that will slow down climate change
Industry consumes nearly half of all energy used in Finland – and industrial activity produces waste heat.
Waste heat recovery and utilisation are excellent ways to fight climate change. We must reduce the Finnish carbon footprint. And why wouldn’t we succeed, we’re a resourceful nation at need.
We need your daring thought
Could industrial waste heat be utilised in the production of new products or unheard-of services?
Your idea can be an insight drafted on paper with a marker, or an advanced construction drawing including advantage calculations and background data. It can be a business model or a digital service. Or a combination of all the above.
OR you can reveal a waste heat target that’s not currently being used.
LOOK IN THE MIRROR, YOU MAY BE AN INVENTOR
We encourage thinking outside the box and welcome all interdisciplinary or revolutionary ideas with open arms. Naturally, we don’t eschew traditional engineering know-how and pragmatism either. We know that you cannot identify an inventor by the way they walk, their hat, or hairstyle – it’s all about the brainwaves.
WHERE TO START?
You can get started at your own workplace, your own company or that of your neighbour’s. The aim of the Huima (daring in Finnish) competition is to seek ways to recover and utilize industrial waste heat. If you work in the industry, are a student in the field, or are simply intrigued by the theme – put on your thinking cap. You just might do a big favor to the entire planet and also win something on the side. If you want, you can design your idea to be implemented at our example targets.
